New York Power Authority’s “Recharge” Promotion Offered at EVolve NY Chargers at Five Stores in Capital and Adirondacks Regions

To recognize New Yorkers who drive electric vehicles (EVs), the New York Power Authority (NYPA) is joining with Stewart’s Shops to offer a free coffee to anyone who charges his or her EV at one of NYPA’s EVolve NY fast charging sites at a Stewart’s location between Dec. 19 to 25. The “Recharge” promotion is good at all five Stewart’s charging locations in the Capital and Adirondacks regions: Latham, Clifton Park, Schodack, Moreau and Keene. New York State offers incentives and promotional campaigns to encourage more New Yorkers to drive zero-emissions vehicles to further its aggressive clean energy goals and reduce the carbon footprint of the state’s transportation sector.

“Clean transportation is key to New York State’s clean energy future and the New York Power Authority is a leader in building out the infrastructure needed to help grow EV adoption,” said NYPA Interim President and CEO Justin E. Driscoll. “We are promoting EV driving and the availability of chargers so that more EV drivers recognize the environmental benefits of electric vehicles and see no-emission cars as an affordable, viable option.”

EV drivers need to mention the code “Drive Electric” to a cashier at the site where they charge to receive a free Stewart’s 12-ounce coffee during the promotion. They also can pick up a “Drive Electric” bumper sticker designed by a student at Amsterdam High School in a competition organized by NYPA’s Environmental Justice department to promote EV driving in New York State.

Each Stewart’s location has four fast charging stations that can be used by any make or model of electric vehicle and can fully charge an EV in as little as 20 minutes. NYPA installed the hubs, and now owns and operates them in coordination with Stewart’s acting as site host.

Stewart’s Shops President Gary Dake said, “We’re proud to partner with NYPA on this campaign to bring awareness to our fast-charging network. Stewart’s Shops is that convenient stop to recharge your car and recharge your body with coffee, beverages, meals and more.”
