New York Power Authority to Host “Touch-a-Truck" Event and Safety Fair at the

Hawkins Point Visitors Center on August 1

 

Massena, N.Y. —The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will hold its first “Touch-a-Truck" event and safety fair at the Hawkins Point Visitors Center (21 Hawkins Point Road) on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

Visitors are invited to explore a variety of trucks and heavy‑equipment vehicles from NYPA’s fleet that are used for daily operations.The dayfeatures alsofamily-friendly activities, including a craft station and STEM activities.

 

“It’s one thing to read about energy; it’s another to see the tools and vehicles up close,” said Manager of Community Relations, Jill Winters. “We hope children and adults come away not only with a better understanding of our work but also excited about how it gets done.

 

Touch-a-Truck events are a regular staple of annual programming at other NYPA Visitors Centers statewide. The popular event allows people of all ages to learn about community and workplace safety by interacting firsthand with heavy equipment used by transportation and utility crews, law enforcement, public officials and other first responders.
