Relax Over Holiday Break at Hawkins Point!

Family-Friendly Movie Days Make Their Return

to Hawkins Point During Winter Recess

MASSENA The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will be offering movies and STEM activities during the week of Dec. 23 at the Frank S. McCullough Jr. Hawkins Point Visitors Center during the upcoming holiday school break.

The family-friendly movies will be shown in our theater at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to bring in their own snacks. There will also be opportunities to participate in various STEM activities.

The visitors center will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Thursday, Dec. 25 as well as Wednesday, Dec. 31 and Thursday, Jan. 1.

Hawkins Point, the admission-free visitors center for the St. Lawrence-FDR Power Project, offers many hands-on exhibits on electricity, energy, the environment and area history. Visitors can hop aboard a bicycle generator and turn pedal-power into electricity or have a hair-raising experience with static electricity using the Van de Graaff generator.

The visitors center also features an audio-visual terrain map that charts the course of the mighty St. Lawrence River between Ogdensburg and Massena. A wood-carved map detailing Jacques Cartier’s exploration of the St. Lawrence River is also on display alongside panoramic views of the project’s power dam. A community room is also available for public use all year long.

For more information on scheduling or events please call 315-764-6679.
