New York Power Authority Named Dream Employer on Forbes’ 2026 List

The Ranking Recognizes Top Employers in Terms of Compensation, Mission-Driven Initiatives, Challenging Assignments and Benefits That Promote Mental Wellbeing and Flexible Schedules

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) has been recognized by Forbes Magazine on its America’s Dream Employers 2026 list. NYPA is the #1 ranked employer in the utility industry on this list, which features many notable organizations.

"To be recognized alongside such a distinguished group is an honor and underscores our commitment to providing an exceptional work environment, diverse job opportunities and robust professional development programs for all employees,” said NYPA Senior Vice President of Human Resources Karina Saslow. “At NYPA, we’re dedicated to fostering a culture where all employees can thrive and contribute meaningfully to our mission of delivering clean, affordable and reliable electricity to New Yorkers. We proudly offer opportunities for employees to build fulfilling careers, work on mission-driven projects that make a real difference in people’s lives and be supported with comprehensive benefits."

Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to create this ranking by surveying 10,000 college students in the United States and 140,000 U.S.-based employees at companies across all sectors that employ at least 1,000 people in the country. The students were asked which employers they considered to be dream employers and rated how excited they would be to receive an offer from the company. They also evaluated employers based on growth opportunities, quality of work, salary, and company reputation.

Employee respondents were asked about their dream employers and whether they would recommend their current or previous employer (within the past two years). Current workers evaluated their companies based on wages, health benefits, professional development, working conditions and the ability of employees to express ideas.

Responses were tallied and analyzed, with data from the past three years of Forbes-Statista employee surveys included. The 500 companies with the highest scores made the list of America’s Dream Employers 2026.

The Power Authority employs more than 2,500 people in New York State and operates and maintains major hydropower projects in Western and Northern New York as well as one-third of the state’s power transmission system.

NYPA’s workforce includes individuals with a diverse range of skills, including engineers, mechanics, security professionals, electricians, project managers, environmental scientists, data analysts, cloud engineers, financial analysts, energy traders, and many others.
