Media Opportunity: NYPA and Brentwood School District Bring NYPA EnergizeU Dec. 16 Workshop for 7th Graders

 BRENTWOOD, N.Y. — The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is offering free, energy education to all seventh-grade students in the Brentwood School District this December through its EnergizeU public education program. The hands-on “Electricity Basics” and energy efficiency workshops, conducted in collaboration with educational innovator WhyMaker, are expected to serve approximately 1,400 students—in Long Island’s largest school district. 

 

Members of the media interested in learning more about the program and NYPA’s Environmental Justice efforts are invited to attend a special student workshop on Tuesday, December 16 at 10:30 AM at Brentwood South Middle School  

(785 Candlewood Rd. Brentwood, NY.) Brentwood Schools Superintendent Dr. Wanda Ortiz-Rivera and New York State Senator Monica Martinez will join students in the classroom to observe NYPA’s EnergizeU program in action.  

 

The event will offer photo and bilingual interview opportunities with Superintendent Ortiz-Rivera, Sen. Martinez, students, educators, and program leaders. Local residents and leaders will highlight the district’s collaboration with NYPA to prepare students for future careers in clean energy through its Graduation Plus+ vision.
