NYPA Ranked Fourth Among Utilities on Forbes’ List of America’s Best Employers for Women 2025

 

Forbes Magazine Recognizes Companies that Empower Women in the Workplace

  

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is ranked fourth on Forbes Magazine’s list of America’s Best Employers for Women 2025. The Power Authority was listed fourth among a group of 30 nationally ranked utilities and was 89th on the full list of 700 ranked companies as best places to work for women. NYPA also earned the third spot on Forbes’ list of America’s Best Employers for New Grads and the 30th spot on Forbes’ list of America’s Best Midsize Employers earlier this year.

This award highlights NYPA’s dedication to fostering an inclusive workplace where all individuals can learn, grow and advance their careers.

Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to survey more than 140,000 women working for companies employing at least 1,000 people within the U.S. from all industry sectors. The list was compiled using evaluations given by women employees and members of the public. Additional data was gathered via publicly available company information, including diversity among top executive/board, and was analyzed using a scoring model. More than 4 million employer evaluations were considered.  

 

The Power Authority employs more than 2,500 people in New York State and operates major hydropower projects in Western and Northern New York as well as one-third of the state’s power transmission system.

 

NYPA’s workforce includes individuals with a diverse range of skills, including electricians, mechanics, security professionals, engineers, project managers, environmental scientists, data analysts, cloud engineers, financial analysts, energy traders,, and many others.
