Bronx Hosts Landmark E-Mobility Climate Convening in Collaboration with NYPA and The Green Launchpad
Bronx, NY – The Bronx Tech Hub, in partnership with the New York Power Authority (NYPA) and The Green Launchpad, proudly hosted the Bronx E-Mobility Workforce Development Convening on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Sankofa Haus.
This groundbreaking event brought together a powerful coalition of stakeholders from across the public and private sectors, including startups, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, workforce funders, and community stakeholders/leaders, to explore the future of climate tech and clean transportation through the lens of workforce development.
Designed as an educational convening rather than a commercial event, the gathering focused on the real-world opportunities emerging in the rapidly expanding e-mobility industry. Attendees heard directly from early-stage innovators and established clean transportation companies about the skills, training programs, and employment pipelines needed to build an inclusive and equitable green economy in New York.
“The goal of the convening was to develop relationships and collaborations that will lead to new workforce solutions in the e-mobility space,” said Kaela Mainsah, NYPA vice president of environmental justice. “More clean energy industries are taking hold in New York State and Bronx communities have much to gain by learning about what’s happening across e-mobility segments, including bus, charging, and micro-mobility. The New York Power Authority is proud to support training and education programs that will help make this a reality.”
“We are building a collaborative ecosystem that centers the Bronx in the clean energy transition,” said George Nunez, Founder/ CEO of Bronx Tech Hub. “This convening was a step forward in connecting local talent with real climate solutions and ensuring our communities are not left behind in the green workforce of tomorrow.”
With NYPA’s leadership in electrification and The Green Launchpad’s commitment to accelerate workforce organizations to navigate the green economy job opportunities, the event created a platform for conversation, collaboration, and concrete action. "This convening exemplifies how cross-sector collaboration drives workforce innovation in emerging fields like e-mobility. By connecting employers, training providers, funders, and community leaders, we've taken an important first step in empowering Bronx communities to shape their participation in the clean transportation economy. When industry needs align with community priorities, we create workforce solutions that are both effective and equitable, ensuring e-mobility growth delivers meaningful local economic benefits." - Angela Son, Founder / CEO of The Green Launchpad. Sessions featured insights into electric vehicle infrastructure, micro-mobility solutions, and climate-focused job pathways, all tailored to the unique needs and strengths of Bronx communities.
This is part of an ongoing effort to ensure that emerging climate technologies don’t just reach underserved neighborhoods, but that they start there with workforce-ready communities at the center.
