New York Power Authority Hosts “Earth Rocks!” Event at the

John S. Dyson New York Energy Zone on Saturday, April 26

UTICA—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will hold its “Earth Rocks!” event at the John S. Dyson New York Energy Zone on Saturday, April 26 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

During the event, guests will have the opportunity to learn about pollinator gardens and their importance, view a pollinator exhibit, and meet a professional beekeeper. The Power Authority will also provide attendees with free pollinator seedlings to take home, along with gifts from the Energy Zone’s prize wheel. The event will also feature arts and crafts activities.

“The importance of environmental sustainability is a core principle of Earth Day as well as at NYPA and the New York Energy Zone,” said NYPA Community Relations Manager Joe Caruso. “We look forward to welcoming the community with family-friendly activities to both educate and entertain our guests.”

The neighboring Utica Zoo will host its “Party for the Planet” during the same timeframe.

The NY Energy Zone is a fully immersive and hands-on science center designed for visitors of all ages, guiding guests on a powerful journey through the past, present, and future of electricity. The visitors center has more than 40 interactive displays and games that simulate flying a drone through transmission lines, operating a power plant, and building a tabletop microgrid. The Energy Zone is open every day between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., and admission is always free.
