New York Power Authority Fishing Piers to Open March 30

LEWISTON—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) today announced that the fishing pier at the base of the Robert Moses Niagara Hydroelectric Power Plant will open for the season on Saturday, March 30.

The fishing piers near the Upper Mountain Fire Company at the Lewiston Reservoir and at the water intakes along the upper Niagara River will also open for the season on March 30. The fishing pier at the base of the power plant and access to the top of the reservoir will be closed on Monday, April 8.

Additionally, the fish-cleaning station and handicap access elevator at the dam site will be available when temperatures remain above freezing. The fishing sites, which will open earlier than usual due to a lack of ice in the Niagara River, will close in sub-freezing temperatures or icy conditions.

Parking to access the fishing site at the base of the power plant is available near the road that leads to the pier.

Unless otherwise noted, NYPA fishing facilities are seasonally open daily from dawn to dusk and are admission free.
