New York Power Authority Hosts “Holly Jolly Party” at the
John S. Dyson New York Energy Zone
UTICA—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will hold its “Holly Jolly Party”, a holiday-themed community event comprised of family-friendly activities, at the John S. Dyson New York Energy Zone on Sunday, December 3, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Admission and all activities are entirely free.
The holiday celebration will feature various activities and attractions, including train rides on the “Mountain Express”, a festive electric locomotive that travels through the grounds surrounding the Energy Zone.
Guests will also be able to take pictures with Santa, make holiday ornaments, and enjoy screenings of holiday movies in the New York Energy Theater, including “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, “Frosty the Snowman”, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”, “The Little Drummer Boy”, and “Cricket on the Hearth”. Additionally, party attendees who ride the Mountain Express electric train will receive a “Golden Ticket” and a special silver bell ornament.
The New York Energy Zone is a fully immersive and hands-on science center designed for visitors of all ages, guiding guests on a powerful journey through the past, present, and future of electricity. Visits to the 15,000 square-foot facility kickoff with an eye-popping 3-D movie—directed by legendary filmmaker Douglas Trumbull—about Nikola Tesla and his contributions to modern electricity systems. In addition, there are more than 40 interactive displays and games that include flying a drone, checking transmission lines, operating a power plant, and building a tabletop microgrid.
