New York Power Authority President and CEO Justin E. Driscoll (left) meets with Rochester Mayor Malik Evans to highlight the Power Authority’s $500,000 Smart Cities grant funding to support the purchase of smart nodes for the city’s streetlighting system. The new smart nodes will allow the system operator lighting control and dimming, while also reporting errors or outages for individual fixtures. The $500,000 grant will cover the entire cost of purchasing the new equipment.

NYPA previously collaborated with the City of Rochester to procure 10,000 energy efficient LED streetlights, reducing carbon emissions and municipal energy and maintenance costs.
