Paul DeMichele is the Chief of Staff for the New York Power Authority (NYPA), the nation’s largest State-owned electric utility. He directly supports the Power Authority’s President and Chief Executive Officer, coordinating daily operations across NYPA and the New York State Canal System.
A seasoned communications expert, Paul began his NYPA career in 2007 as a public information officer. During his tenure, he managed external communications with media outlets and a wide range of stakeholder groups, driving clear and effective messaging on complex energy issues.
Prior to returning to NYPA in his current role in 2025, Paul served as Deputy Communications Director for Energy and the Environment in the New York State Executive Chamber. There, he oversaw communications for the State’s energy and environmental portfolio and served as a spokesperson and advisor for Governor Kathy Hochul on critical energy initiatives, including the Governor’s call for the Power Authority to develop at least 1 gigawatt of advanced nuclear power in Upstate New York.
Paul earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Marist College.
