Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
At the New York Power Authority (NYPA), we know our power is generated by the diversity of our people — a committed workforce of more than 2,500 energy technologists, IT specialists, hydro engineers and countless business experts. They serve our customers and communities extending from gas-powered plants in New York City to the St. Lawrence Power Project in northern Massena and the Niagara Power Project in Lewiston on the state’s western border.
We draw strength from our diversity – everyone contributes, everyone belongs.

Our Employee Resource Groups

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are part of NYPA and Canals overall strategy and business plan, and are an asset that help bring our values to life. ERGs are voluntary, employee-led organizations that aim to support and advocate for underrepresented groups and allies in the workplace. At NYPA and Canals, our ERGs connect employees, create opportunities for mentorship and professional development, and empower employees to share their experiences and receive support from colleagues, moving us all forward in ensuring a diverse and inclusive culture. Our Employee Resource Groups include: ABLE (Abilities Beyond Limits and Expectations), Eco, Generations, Multicultural, Pride in Power Allyship, Veterans and Women in Power.
