Joan Tursi has served as senior vice president for enterprise shared services for the New York Power Authority (NYPA) since June 2010. In this position, she is responsible for human resources, procurement, information services, facilities management, corporate travel, fleet operations and real estate, assuring that NYPA's highly specialized and remote assets have the resources required to successfully accomplish their individual and collective missions.
Tursi joined NYPA in 1984 as a budget analyst and served as director of budgets for more than nine years. In that capacity, she streamlined the Authority’s budget process and made other significant contributions to its organizational efficiency. Subsequently she served as senior vice president of enterprise shared services and acting head of corporate services and administration. During her tenure she has been responsible for the initiation and implementation of numerous organizational assessments and studies.
Tursi’s accomplishments were recognized in 2000, when she was named the Authority’s Woman Leader of the Year and honored at the annual luncheon sponsored by the Academy of Women Leaders of the YWCA of New York City.
Tursi is a graduate of Pace University, with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and financial management, and has done graduate work in finance at Pace. Before joining the NYPA staff, she worked in various financial roles for the Smith Corona Division of SCM Corporation and for the Norelco Division of North American Philips.
