Sarah Orban Salati is the New York Power Authority’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer.

Sarah joined NYPA from the AES Corporation where she had worked since 2005. At AES, Sarah focused on spurring innovation leading multi-functional teams to assess the impact of emerging technologies on the global portfolio, pursued the incubation of a lean digital start-up and led AES’s “innovation” brand strategy, including curating AES’s first TEDxAES event and first open innovation contest targeting the use of drone technology.

Sarah has a track record of operational excellence and P&L responsibility overseeing AES’ global program to improve operational performance for bottom line financial impact through Six Sigma Lite frameworks and in executive positions at a regulated integrated utility and as commercial director of merchant power assets in Europe. In Sarah’s corporate HQ roles, Sarah supported the development of corporate and business line five-year strategies, business development projects focused on strategic and geographic growth areas and improved capital allocation decisions at the C-suite level.

During her tenure at AES, Sarah held two expatriate assignments in London, England and Budapest, Hungary where she led teams responsible for commercial contracting and the execution of M&A transactions and other corporate initiatives across Europe, CIS, Africa, Middle East and Asia. Prior to her energy career, Sarah worked in investment banking focused on the media and telecommunications industries, as a communications strategy consultant and in an entrepreneurial international agricultural commodities trading company.

Sarah received a Masters of Arts from Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies and a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University.
