Tri-Lakes Reliability Project

Getting electricity to customers is vital to NYPA's business. In 2009, we joined with National Grid on a $30 million project meant to enhance the reliability of electric service to the Tri-Lakes region for the health and safety of its residents, especially during harsh winter weather. The joint Tri-Lakes Reliability Project consists of a new 23-mile, 46-kilovolt power line, new regulator station and substation upgrades which will help avert freezing-related power outages and dangers to families in Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake and surrounding communities.
