Short Term Measures: "Bridging the Gap"

Several short-term measures to improve reliability have been taken. They include: public appeals by radio and TV broadcasts and newspaper reports requesting reduced electric use during extreme cold weather, local site-specific generators used by municipalities and large institutions, substation equipment installed to boost voltage, changes to system configuration to improve delivery capacity, and ongoing energy audits to identify energy conservation measures for home and business.
