To those interested in the Tri-Lakes Reliability Project:
In our continuing efforts to keep you informed on the progress of the Tri-Lakes Reliability Project, on Wednesday, November 30, 2005, the New York Power Authority (NYPA) submitted its permit application for this project to the Adirondack Park Agency (APA) for regulatory review. Along with the application, a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) was submitted. The first step in the APA regulatory process, will be a review of the application for completeness. An APA regulatory public comment process will commence now that the application and DEIS have been submitted.
Additionally, in keeping with other state regulatory processes including NYPA’s regulations concerning the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA), NYPA will be placing a notice in the Environmental Notice Bulletin (ENB) to appear on Wednesday, December 14, 2005, to say we have completed the DEIS, are initiating a public comment period, and that we are planning a public hearing in mid-January with an exact date to be finalized in several days from now. Comments on the DEIS should be made directly to NYPA
We are now in the process of copying the documents submitted to the APA for viewing at several municipal locations and public libraries in the Tri-Lakes Region. We are also formatting them to make them accessible on the Tri-Lakes Reliability website (http://www.nypa.gov/services/TriLakes.htm). You can obtain a copy at a cost to cover duplicating and postage for the five volumes which comprise these documents or request a CD version.
