Tri-Lakes Reliability Project

On November 3, 2009, New York State voters overwhelmingly approved a statewide ballot proposal that allows the state to "swap" six acres of Forest Preserve land for at least 10 acres to be transferred by National Grid. (National Grid subsequently agreed to transfer 43 acres of land, for conservation, to New York State). The land "swap" was necessary for the 46kV power line that National Grid and the New York Power Authority constructed on Forest Preserve land in order to provide reliable electric service for the health and safety of the residents of the Tri-Lakes Region of Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake and the surrounding communities. The following documents chronicle the agreements, legal processes and milestones of the Tri-Lakes Reliability Project.
