NEWS FLASH: NYS Leads the Nation with Largest Renewable Energy Procurement

As part of the first phase of Gov. Cuomo’s Clean Climate Careers initiative, New York State is making an unprecedented investment of up to $1.5 billion in major renewable energy projects, including wind and solar - resulting in an additional 2.5 million megawatt-hours of electricity a year.

The NYPA solicitation will procure 1 million MWh of electricity from renewable energy sources. This investment in additional large-scale clean energy supplies will expand NYPA’s leadership role as the State’s largest supplier of renewable electricity. NYPA will be hosting a conference to discuss their RFP with prospective bidders on Thursday, June 15, at 2 p.m. EDT, at its administrative office building at 123 Main Street in White Plains. The purpose of the event is to assist developers in preparing their proposals, which are due September 1.

Evaluation of proposals is made through a fair and equitable comparison of all proposals submitted in accordance the specifics of the Requests for Quotation (RFQ) as established in Our Guidelines for Procurement Contracts. We do not maintain prequalified bidders lists, and bidders are expected to demonstrate their proven experience within their proposals. We encourage Minority and Women owned (MWBE) and Service Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses (SDVOB) firms to participate in our Supplier Diversity Program. We also encourage such firms to participate in these bidding opportunities.

NYPA is implementing a comprehensive sourcing, contract management and supplier management system through the SAP Ariba platform which will enable electronic bidding. The transition to the new system will allow the Authority to manage the bidding process, contracts and relationships with its suppliers more efficiently. The transition occurred throughout 2016 with a targeted completion in early 2017. The Authority will continue to make RFQ documents available to prospective bidders on this website. All bids processed using Ariba will be clearly marked and instructions will be provided on this website to ensure successful submission in Ariba.

To access bidding opportunities bidders must first register on our site directory. Registering gives NYPA the ability to communicate with the bidding community directly.

We make every effort to assure that our web site is accessible to persons with disabilities. If you are unable to access our RFQ documents in .pdf format, please e-mail
