The New York Power Authority (NYPA) showcased two new electric-drive vehicle models Tuesday (Oct. 5) for its governmental customers in Westchester and New York City at an electric vehicle workshop and “ride-and-drive” event at NYPA’s administrative office building in White Plains. Officials from Westchester municipalities, such as Dobbs Ferry, Pleasantville and New Castle, and from the City of New York got a close look at a commercial van--the Transit Connect Electric (first photo)--that Ford Motor Co. and Azure Dynamics Corp., an electric vehicle company, collaborated on. A second vehicle, Azure’s Balance Hybrid Electric Shuttle Bus (second photo), is now part of the vehicle fleets of Tarrytown and Hastings-on-Hudson. NYPA’s Electric Transportation Program helped make possible the purchase of these vehicles.
