Power Authority Approves Contract Extensions for Statewide Lower Cost Power Programs
August 31, 2010

Richard M. Kessel, president and CEO of the New York Power Authority (NYPA) (left), is joined by Randy Wolken (center) of the Manufacturers Association of Central New York and Leo Basciano (right), managing director of Specialized Packaging Group, Inc. to announce the restoration the Power For Jobs and Energy Cost Savings Benefit programs, after the implementing statutes for the two critical economic development programs had expired earlier this year. In early August, Governor Paterson signed legislation to extend the programs and provide benefits retroactively. The NYPA Board of Trustees voted earlier this week to extend the contracts for the programs’ customers restoring their benefits and protecting the 300,000 jobs committed by these companies to maintain in order to receive low-cost power and rebates.
