Cool "AC" On Tap For August As NYPA’s "Beat The Heat" Summer Movie Series Continues

MASSENA—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will continue to host its “Beat the Heat Summer Movie Days” every Tuesday in August, featuring a full-day of family-friendly movies and free popcorn, at the admission-free Frank S. McCullough, Jr. Hawkins Point Visitors Center and Boat Launch in Massena.

Movie times for the special summer campaign on Tuesdays, which is in addition to the visitor center’s year-round Friday matinee movie series, are 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. 
The movie line-up for “Beat the Heat” in August is as follows:

Aug. 3:
10 a.m. “Bee Movie”
1 p.m. “Avatar”
3 p.m. “Dreamer”
5 p.m. “17 Again”

Aug. 10:
10 a.m. “Robots”
1 p.m. “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”
3 p.m. “Cop Dog”
5 p.m. “The Mighty Ducks”

Aug. 17:
10 a.m.  “RV”
1 p.m.  “Bandslam”
3 p.m. “Bolt”
5 p.m. “Coraline”

Aug. 24:
10 a.m. “Cars”
1 p.m. “Furry Vengeance”
3 p.m. “The Game Plan”
5 p.m. “Daddy Day Camp”

Besides enjoying the movies, visitors can sample the array of hands-on exhibits at the Hawkins Point Visitors Center, which presents information on such themes as electricity generation and the St. Lawrence-FDR project, basics of electricity and uses of electricity. Another highlight is the panoramic view of the project’s power dam.
