President and Nassau County Executive to Introduce
Energy Efficient LED Technology for Nassau County

New York Power Authority (NYPA) President and Chief Executive
Officer Richard M. Kessel and Nassau County Executive Thomas R.
Suozzi will introduce energy efficient LED (light emitting diode)
technology to replace conventional lighting in more than 1,300
traffic signals, including traffic lights, arrows and crosswalk
indicators, throughout the county.
A bucket truck, signal heads and other equipment
used for the installation of the LED technology will be on view and
in action, weather-permitting. Annual taxpayer savings on electric
use by the LED traffic signals is estimated to be almost $1.1
million.
