President and Leading Buffalo Officials to Break Ground Friday on
New Ice Boom Storage Site

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New York Power Authority (NYPA) President and Chief
Executive Officer Richard M. Kessel will be joined by Congressman
Brian Higgins, State Assemblyman Mark J.F. Schroeder and other
officials on Friday afternoon in Buffalo’s Old First Ward for a
groundbreaking at a newly acquired site for the warm-weather storage
of the Lake Erie-Niagara River Ice Boom. The new site will free up
the current ice boom storage site in support of the waterfront
redevelopment of the Buffalo Outer Harbor.
Kessel will spotlight NYPA’s plans to develop a
neighborhood park at the new storage site. There will also be a
walking tour of the property.
