September 14, 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York Power Authority (NYPA) President and Chief Executive Officer Richard M. Kessel will be in Steuben County and has the following public schedule:

Mr. Kessel will hold a news conference with the Municipal Electric Utilities Association (MEUA) and the New York Association of Public Power to kick-off a new program to encourage residents and commercial customers served by NYPA’s 51 municipal electric systems and rural cooperatives to lower their energy costs and reduce their carbon footprint with solar photovoltaic systems.

Through the Solar Incentive Program, NYPA will make available grants through the municipalities to encourage residents and businesses in those communities to install photovoltaic systems. By reducing the capital investment necessary for installation, NYPA and its 51 municipal electric and rural cooperative systems are partnering to promote clean energy projects and advance New York State as a leader in the clean energy economy.
