Power Authority Visits Corning

New York Power Authority (NYPA) President and Chief
Executive Officer Richard M. Kessel will be in Steuben County and
has the following public schedule:
Mr. Kessel will hold a news conference with the
Municipal Electric Utilities Association (MEUA) and the New York
Association of Public Power to kick-off a new program to encourage
residents and commercial customers served by NYPA’s 51 municipal
electric systems and rural cooperatives to lower their energy costs
and reduce their carbon footprint with solar photovoltaic systems.
Through the Solar Incentive Program, NYPA will make
available grants through the municipalities to encourage residents
and businesses in those communities to install photovoltaic systems.
By reducing the capital investment necessary for installation, NYPA
and its 51 municipal electric and rural cooperative systems are
partnering to promote clean energy projects and advance New York
State as a leader in the clean energy economy.

NYPA President Kessel will deliver a keynote
address at the Municipal Electric Utilities Association annual
conference. The MEUA is an organization that, for eighty years, has
been working to foster and advance the efficient operation of
publicly owned and operated electric systems including the
production, distribution, conservation and prudent use of electric
power and energy for public service.
Mr. Kessel will speak about its clean energy and
energy efficiency programs, including the new Solar Incentive
Program; the Power Authority’s efforts to import new, low-cost
renewable hydropower from Canada and upgrade and modernize the
state’s transmission system; and the successes of its Tree Power
Program that partners with municipalities to plant trees to conserve
energy and improve air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide
emissions.
