MASSENA -The boat launch at the New York Power
Authority's (NYPA) Frank S. McCullough, Jr. Hawkins Point Visitors
Center will be closed Saturday, July 11, to accommodate festivities
at NYPA’s first-ever North Country Crafters Extravaganza. The boat
launch will re-open Sunday, July 12.
The Crafters Extravaganza, to be held on the
grounds of the admission-free visitors center, is set to begin at 10
a.m. and continue throughout the day. Besides some of the area’s
most talented crafters and artisans, the event will feature live
music, an energy expo, refreshments and an evening fireworks
spectacular. All events are free and open to the public.
Visitors can also sample the array of hands-on
exhibits at the Hawkins Point facility, which presents information
on such subjects as generating electricity and NYPA’s St.
Lawrence-FDR Power Project. Visitors are sure to enjoy the panoramic
