Press Availability on Great Lakes
Offshore Wind
June 15, 2009
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New York Power Authority (NYPA) President and Chief
Executive Officer Richard M. Kessel will hold a news conference
about advances in the Great Lakes Offshore Wind project. Just
recently on Earth Day in April, NYPA announced a major
public-private initiative for the potential development of wind
power projects in the New York State waters of Lake Erie and Lake
Ontario.
NYPA has been working closely with environmental
groups and Western New York officials and has released a Request for
Expressions of Interest (RFEI) to initiate efforts to develop
offshore wind projects in the Great Lakes. In addition, a Request
for Proposals (RFP) to examine technical issues related to the
viability of such projects has been issued.
Following those remarks, Mr. Kessel will be
available to take press questions on unrelated topics.
