News Advisory: NYPA and OGS Announce Energy
Efficiency
Upgrade at
Duryea State Office Building

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New York State Office of General Services (OGS)
Commissioner John C. Egan and New York Power Authority (NYPA)
President and Chief Executive Officer Richard M. Kessel will unveil
a 200-kilowatt fuel cell, and a 500-kilowatt peak load natural gas
generator. This represents the final phase of multi-year investment
plan at the Perry B. Duryea Jr. State Office Building. The fuel
cell will generate 1.6 million kilowatt hours of renewable
electricity per year, or roughly 25 percent of the building’s
electricity, while enhancing the building’s energy efficiency and
reducing its carbon footprint.
