FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MASSENA—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) today
said that the International St. Lawrence River Board of Control
ordered the lifting of the gates at Iroquois Dam near Waddington.
The gates have been lifted and returned to their normal operating
positions.
The order was issued to NYPA and Ontario Power
Generation, which jointly operate the international Robert
Moses-Robert H. Saunders Power Dam.
Iroquois Dam is located upstream of the power dam
and regulates the outflow from Lake Ontario and the level of Lake
St. Lawrence. Last week the Board of Control had ordered the gates
lowered at Iroquois Dam to help prevent water levels in Lake St.
Lawrence from rising too high.
