NYPA Power Vista Celebrates the Nature of Niagara Contact:
LEWISTON—The New York Power Authority's Niagara Power Project will celebrate the “Nature of Niagara” in March as part of the ongoing Sensational Saturdays Program at its Power Vista visitors center. The schedule is as follows: Saturday, March 21: “Old Growth Trees” – Learn about characteristics of old growth trees, why they are important and what accounts for their scattered growth. Saturday, March 28: “Great Gorge Route” – Explore the trolley route that took visitors on a spectacular tour through the Niagara River Gorge from 1895 to 1935. Photos and artifacts will be on display. Presented by representatives of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, both programs will run at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the Niagara Power Project Power Vista’s community room. The Power Vista features displays and interactive exhibits relating to the production of electricity, energy efficiency and the area’s history, as well as spectacular views from the observation deck, 350 feet above the Niagara River Gorge. Parking and admission at the Power Vista, located at 5777 Lewiston Road in Lewiston, are always free of charge.
