the NaS Battery Energy Storage System at the MTA Long Island
Bus depot and offices in Garden City, New York, are the
following project participants, from left:
Patrick Duggan, R&D Project Manager, Con Ed;
Georgianne Peek, Sandia National Laboratories
& U.S. Department of Energy;
Joseph H. Sayer, Senior Project Manager,
Power Systems, New York State Energy Research and Development
Authority (NYSERDA), which contributed $1 million towards
project & previously funded $3.6 million in Natural Gas Buses
for MTA LI Bus;
Joseph J. Smith, Senior Vice President - New
York City Transit Department of Buses, President - MTA Bus,
President - LI Bus;
Elliot G. Sander, Executive Director and
Chief Executive Officer, Metropolitan Transportation
Authority;
Richard M. Kessel, President and Chief
Executive Officer, New York Power Authority;
Todd Stebbins, the Long Island Power
Authority's Assistant Director for Municipal, Commercial &
Residential Programs - LIPA contributed $300,000 towards
project including interconnection to grid.
