Assembled for the successful installation of the NaS Battery Energy Storage System at the MTA Long Island Bus depot and offices in Garden City, New York, are the following project participants, from left:

Patrick Duggan, R&D Project Manager, Con Ed;

Georgianne Peek, Sandia National Laboratories & U.S. Department of Energy;

Joseph H. Sayer, Senior Project Manager, Power Systems, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), which contributed $1 million towards project & previously funded $3.6 million in Natural Gas Buses for MTA LI Bus;

Joseph J. Smith, Senior Vice President - New York City Transit Department of Buses, President - MTA Bus, President - LI Bus;

Elliot G. Sander, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, Metropolitan Transportation Authority;

Richard M. Kessel, President and Chief Executive Officer, New York Power Authority;

Todd Stebbins, the Long Island Power Authority's Assistant Director for Municipal, Commercial & Residential Programs - LIPA contributed $300,000 towards project including interconnection to grid.
