MASSENA—The holiday season will get an early start
on Saturday, Nov. 8, when Santa Claus arrives at the Frank S.
McCullough, Jr. Hawkins Point Visitors Center and Boat Launch at the
New York Power Authority’s St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power
Project for a photo session with visitors’ pets.
Pet owners will be able to have their pet’s picture
taken with Santa during the fourth annual “Santa Paws” event, which
will take place in two sessions: 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
to 2 p.m. Photos will be available to take home on Saturday.
While admission to the visitors center is free,
there will be a $10 donation per photo to benefit Spay-Neuter Now,
an organization devoted to controlling the wanton breeding of dogs
and cats. Volunteers from that organization will be on hand to
provide information on spaying and neutering pets.
The visitors center, featuring a wide range of
interactive exhibits on such subjects as water power and the St.
Lawrence-FDR-Project, basics of electricity and uses of electricity,
will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
