New York State Safe Boater
Certification Course Scheduled for Power Authority Visitors Center

RELEASE
NORTH BLENHEIM—A New
York State safe boater certification course will be held on
Saturday, May 17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the New York Power
Authority’s (NYPA) Blenheim-Gilboa Pumped Storage Power Project
visitors center.
Dennis Downs, a
certified instructor with the Northeastern New York Safety and
Health Council, Inc., will conduct the free eight-hour course.
To receive the Safe
Boating Certificate, participants must complete the classroom
session and pass the final exam with a grade of 75 percent or more.
They must be at least 18 years old and submit $10 to the state to
obtain the certificate.
Coffee and tea will be
served, but those attending should bring their lunch.
Reservations are
required because of limited space. Please contact Steve Ramsey,
community relations manager at NYPA’s Blenheim-Gilboa facility, at
1-800-724-0309 by May 7.
The admission-free
visitors center, open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., is
located 17 miles south of Middleburgh on Route 30.
