Caption and Photo: Blenheim-Gilboa Pumped Storage Project Ready for Peak Summer Demand Following Upgrade of Generating Unit June 1, 2007 Caption: A new 190,000-pound turbine being lifted earlier this year for delivery into the powerhouse of the New York Power Authority’s (NYPA) Blenheim-Gilboa Pumped Storage Project in the northern Catskills. The new apparatus is part of the refurbished equipment that NYPA placed in service at the hydroelectric project in late May in connection with a multiyear upgrade for enhancing the efficiency of the facility, which is now at its full generating capacity, in time for the peak-demand summer season.
