FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ASTORIA—As in past years, the New York Power
Authority (NYPA) will co-sponsor the United Community Civic
Association’s (UCCA) Annual Health Fair on Saturday, June 2. Power
Authority representatives will be on hand to demonstrate a NYPA
hybrid-electric vehicle and to discuss hybrid technology.
The event, held in the schoolyard of St. Francis of
Assisi Elementary School at 21-18 46th Street in Astoria, annually
draws thousands of residents from Astoria, Astoria Heights, East
Elmhurst, Jackson Heights and Long Island City. The fair is a joint
venture between the UCCA and Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens.
UCCA President Rose Marie Poveromo said, “We look
forward, once again, to NYPA showing the latest in environmentally
friendly hybrid technology.”
“NYPA has always been counted on to rally to the
assistance of community events whenever possible and we look forward
to continuing our support of the Health Fair,” said Joseph Leary,
NYPA’s director of public and governmental affairs for Southeastern
New York.
