BEFORE and AFTER photos of a site in Flushing, Queens where the “BigBelly” solar-powered trash-compactor replaced the conventional garbage can.  Some 44 “BigBelly” units were placed in several Queens Business Improvement Districts as part of the Queens Clean Air Project, a program supported by a $2 million grant from the New York Power Authority.
