PEEKSKILL—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will
be a sponsor for the admission-free kickoff concert on Friday night,
Aug. 4 at the 10th annual Peekskill Celebration. The concert,
featuring Creole jazz by the group Buckwheat Zydeco, will begin at 6
p.m. on the main stage in Riverfront Green Park.
“The Power Authority has been part of Peekskill
Celebration since its start and we are pleased to continue that
tradition,” said Timothy S. Carey, NYPA president and chief
executive officer. “We have seen the Celebration grow into an
outstanding family event and we look forward to another great
year.”
“We greatly appreciate the Power Authority’s
ongoing and invaluable support,” said Catherine Montaldo, executive
director of Peekskill Celebration. “We invite everyone to bring a
blanket and picnic supper to the concert, or to purchase something
from one of the fine vendors, while enjoying a great view of the
Hudson and the best Creole jazz to be heard outside of Louisiana.”
The Power Authority will exhibit a hybrid-electric
vehicle at the Celebration, which will continue through Sunday, Aug.
6, with such attractions as arts and crafts shows, a classic car
show, a farmers market, community and business exhibits, a stickball
tournament and a Saturday night fireworks program.
