FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MASSENA—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will
contribute $7,500 to the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce to
help support the fourth annual St. Lawrence International Junior
Carp Tournament from Aug. 17-19.
“The Power Authority is pleased to be a sponsor of
this outstanding event that attracts contestants from the North
Country and far beyond,” said Timothy S. Carey, NYPA president and
chief executive officer, in Massena on Tuesday (July 25) for a
meeting of the Authority’s Board of Trustees. “The tournament
provides a great opportunity to make young fishermen and their
families aware of the excellent fishing and other attractions that
are available in this region.”
Carey said the Power Authority’s sponsorship of the
tournament is part of its varied efforts to help promote recreation
and tourism in the area of its St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt
Power Project. Also this summer, NYPA will be the major sponsor for
the first annual St. Lawrence River Power Dam Jam, to be held on the
grounds of the Authority’s Hawkins Point Visitors Center on Aug. 11
and 12.
