Hawkins Point Visitors Center Announces Expanded

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MASSENA —The
admission-free Hawkins Point Visitors Center at the New York Power
Authority’s St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project will
begin operating with expanded summer hours on Saturday, May 27. The
visitors center will be open seven days a week until Columbus Day
from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The $5 million center features a wide array of
interactive exhibits on the St. Lawrence project, waterpower, basics
and uses of electricity and various other subjects. Visitors can
also enjoy panoramic views of the project’s power dam from Hawkins
Point.
DIRECTIONS: From Massena: Take State Route 37 east
to Route 131 (across from St. Lawrence Centre Mall), turn left and
proceed through the Eisenhower Lock tunnel. Then take the second
right onto Robinson Bay Road and continue for two miles. Turn left
onto Hawkins Point Road and follow the entrance road to the visitors
center.
