For Immediate Release
Lewiston— The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is
proud to play a leading role in the Niagara County Science Fair
scheduled for April 1, 2006 at Stella Niagara Education Park. NYPA
will provide a $1,000 sponsorship to help defray the costs of the
event, and staff members will conduct energy education programs and
assist with judging. NYPA has supported the Niagara County Science
Fair for the past two years.
The day-long competition, is coordinated by Stella
Niagara Education Park and the Environmental Leadership Institute at
Niagara University, features scientific research projects developed
by Niagara County students in grades 5 through 8. About
seventy-five students are expected to participate.
According to Sue Sinski, Science Fair Project
Director and Stella Niagara Education Park teacher, “The purpose of
this science fair is to develop children’s interest in science,
which has been on the decline over the last few years. Science fair
competitions have been known to provide students with an enhanced
educational experience that affects future learning and can become
the basis for pursuing a science-related profession.”
The public is welcome to attend the Niagara County
Science Fair, which will take place on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at
Stella Niagara Education Park, 4421 Lower River Road in Lewiston,
NY. For additional information on the fair, contact Joseph
Pillittere, Jr., Director, Institutional Advancement at Stella
Niagara, (716) 754-4311, ext. 438.
The New York Power Authority also operates the
Power Vista, the admission free visitors center at the Niagara Power
Project. Educational programs and special events are offered there
year-round, and visitors are always welcome. For additional
