FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ASTORIA—The New York Power Authority will sponsor
the third annual Region 7 Science Expo for Districts 20 and 21 in
Brooklyn on Tuesday, March 21, at New Utrecht High School, and
Staten Island’s District 31 on Friday, March 24, at the Michael J.
Petrides Educational Complex. Both events will run from 4:30-9pm.
The Region 7 Science Expo celebrates elementary and
high-school students’ ability to conduct quality scientific
investigations and provides an opportunity for them to exhibit New
York City Performance Standards-based work in science in a
non-competitive environment.
Every student will receive an award, provided by
the Kiwanis Clubs in both Brooklyn and Staten Island, for their
exemplary work in science as they present their projects to
teachers, parents, administrators and community members.
This year, over 130 schools located within the
three districts are expected to participate.
The New York Power Authority provides lower-cost
power for New York City municipal buildings and facilities
(including schools and public hospitals), the subways and Metro
North commuter railroad, and a number of commercial and industrial
customers who have qualified under economic development programs.
