News Advisory and Photo Opportunity: Solar Power and Energy Initiatives Announced By Malone Central School District and N.Y. Power Authority
Senator Elizabeth Little will be joined by Allen Schriver, regional
manager for Northern New York, New York Power Authority (NYPA) and
Stephen T. Shafer, superintendent of schools, Malone Central School
District, on Friday, November 18, to announce the completion of a
6-kilowatt photovoltaic (PV) installation at the Franklin Academy High
School. In addition, energy efficiency initiatives at the Franklin
Academy and the Davis Elementary School will be announced.
The PV installation is mounted atop Franklin Academy and is the first NYPA solar power installation in the North Country. It will provide a continuous source of clean energy for the high school by supplementing power the school receives from the grid. A special connection to the school’s computer network will allow students to monitor energy production.
Immediately following remarks from Senator Little and Schriver, a student will demonstrate the computer connection.
