Public Invited To Dam 4-MILER Walk/Run/Rollerblade and Hurricane Katrina Fundraiser at St. Lawrence-FDR Power Project Hawkins Point Visitors Center

On Saturday, October 15, join the 4-MILER Walk/Run/Rollerblade, a great family-fun activity and also participate in fundraising activities for Hurricane Katrina victims.  Halloween-theme activities for children and refreshments will be available at the Hawkins Point Visitors Center at the St. Lawrence-FDR Power Project.  There is plenty of free parking on site.

4-MILER registration is required and begins at 9 am.  A minimum $15. sponsorship donation required to participate.  Sponsor sheets are available at locations throughout St. Lawrence County.  Sheets can also be downloaded from the Hawkins Point Visitors Center’s web page:  http://www.nypa.gov/vc/stlaw.htm.  The first 150 registrants receive a long-sleeve T-Shirt.  Timed runners begin at 10 am, while walkers/rollerbladers start at 10:30 am.

Live music will be provided by the Lime Hollow Boys.  While at these events, view the wide array of interactive exhibits at the newly constructed $5 million visitors center, covering the themes of Water Power and the St. Lawrence facility, Basics of Electricity, Uses of Electricity, and much more.  Visitors are also sure to enjoy the panoramic views of the power dam from Hawkins Point.

            TIME:                           Post – 4-MILER, About 11 am.

            DIRECTIONS:              From Massena: Take State Route 37 east to Route 131 (across from St. Lawrence Centre Mall), turn left and proceed through the Eisenhower Lock tunnel. Then take the second right onto Robinson Bay Road and continue for two miles. Turn left onto Hawkins Point Road and follow the entrance road to the visitors center.
