First Energy-Efficient Traffic and Pedestrian Signals

City of Mount Vernon Mayor Ernest Davis along with other
officials from the City of Mount Vernon and the New York Power Authority
(NYPA) are scheduled to be present as the first energy-efficient traffic
and pedestrian signals are installed at the intersection of North 5th
Avenue and Stevens Avenue on Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 10:00 a.m.
Representatives from Verde Electric Corporation of Mount Vernon, the
firm which will be doing the installation work, will also be present.
New signals will be installed city-wide over the next
several weeks. The signals have a longer operating life, lower maintenance
costs, and consume significantly less electricity.
