NEWS ADVISORY & PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
The public is cordially invited to a ribbon-cutting
ceremony and free picnic lunch to mark the grand opening of the New York
Power Authority’s (NYPA) new Hawkins Point Visitors Center at the St.
Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project on Tuesday, July 26. Hotdogs,
hamburgers and roasted chicken will be served, and cold beverages. Plenty
of parking will be available.
After lunch, people will be able to view the wide array of
interactive exhibits, at the newly constructed $5 million Visitors Center,
on the themes of Water Power and the St. Lawrence facility, Basics of
Electricity and Uses of Electricity.
Visitors are also sure to enjoy the panoramic views of the
power dam from Hawkins Point.
The ribbon-cutting will begin at 12:30 p.m., with the news
media provided an advance viewing of the Visitors Center at 11:30 a.m.

DIRECTIONS: From Massena: Take
State Route 37 east to Route 131 (across from St. Lawrence Centre Mall),
turn left and proceed through the Eisenhower Lock tunnel. Then take the
second right onto Robinson Bay Road and continue for two miles. Turn left
onto Hawkins Point Road and follow the entrance road to the visitors
center.
