Ice On Reservoirs Will Delay Opening
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NORTH BLENHEIM—–The New York Power Authority will delay reopening the upper and lower reservoirs at the Blenheim-Gilboa Pumped Storage Power Project to boaters because of ice. NYPA officials had recently announced that the reservoirs would reopen on April 1.
Engineers at the power project will continue to monitor ice conditions and will determine when boating may safely take place.
Permits for recreational boating are required and will be good until Sept. 30. Both reservoirs are closed to boating the rest of the year.
Applications for permits may be obtained by calling 1-800-724-0309 or by visiting the Power Authority’s web page, www.nypa.gov.
