NEWS Hawkins Point Boat Ramp to Close for RenovationsContact October 21, 2004 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MASSENA—The boat access ramp to the St. Lawrence River at Hawkins Point will be closed temporarily beginning Monday, Oct. 25, to allow for renovations. Officials of the New York Power Authority, which is constructing a new visitors center at the Hawkins Point site, said work will also be done on a handicapped accessible fishing pier during the next month. Both the ramp improvements and the handicapped accessible pier are part of the recreational improvements included in the new license granted to the Power Authority last year by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The officials expect the work to last approximately four weeks. Construction will also continue on the visitors center, which is expected to open in time for the 2005 tourism season. |
