Power Authority to Repair Popular Fishing Pier
May 10, 2004
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LEWISTON – The popular fishing pier near the base of the New York Power Authority’s Robert Moses Niagara Power Plant will be closed temporarily beginning Friday, May 14, to allow for repairs.
Workers will disassemble portions of the concrete and galvanized steel platform to rehabilitate the 15-year old structure. The project is expected to be completed within the next two months.
The free, handicapped-accessible fishing facility has played host to thousands of local anglers since its opening.
While the fishing pier renovations are in progress, shoreline access upstream of the pier will be unaffected and will remain open dawn to dusk.
