FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ALBANY—The New York Power Authority has completed
the sale of a former transmission line maintenance facility to the
Village of Baldwinsville for $300,000.
State Senator John DeFrancisco, who represents
Baldwinsville, said, “This is a great use of surplus Power Authority
property to benefit the residents of the Village of Baldwinsville. It
provides a modern and spacious maintenance facility at a fraction of
what it would cost to build from scratch.”
Village Mayor Andrew Dryden said, “This new facility
not only provides better conditions for our Public Works Department, it
gives us the opportunity to redevelop our current public works site,
perhaps for recreational purposes.”
The village intends to use the former Power
Authority building and the 12.63 acre site it is on to house its
Department of Public Works staff and equipment. The Power Authority
built the one-story, steel and concrete structure in 1961 to house staff
and material used to help maintain a major east-west transmission line
across the state. Recent changes in Power Authority procedures,
including centralizing transmission maintenance at its Clark Energy
Center in Marcy, made the Baldwinsville facility surplus. |
